John Roseboro--1970

After twelve seasons of squatting behind
home plate for over 100 games per year,
John Roseboro looks
stunned to see
his career come to a close as a
Washington Senator. Either that or he
was still feeling the effects of Juan
Marichal’s skull duggery of August 22,
1965.

A four-time All-Star, two-time Gold
Glover, who would play in four World
Series’; Roseboro had come to the end
of the road when he took his place
behind the dish for 46 games for the last
place Senators. Not even the great Ted
Williams could right the Washington
Nine, let alone Roseboro. In fact,
Roseboro didn’t even finish the season,
being released on  August 19, 1970.
