Dee Fondy--1955

Yes, there actually was a big
league player named Dee Fondy,
though he’s not to be confused with
Luke Alike.

Editor’s Note: Fondy was the last
batter in Ebbets Field history as he
grounded out in the Dodgers 2-0
loss to the Pirates on September
24, 1957. After eight seasons that
produced 69 long balls and a .286
average; the first sacker would
have a long post-playing career as
a scout and front office executive,
gaining notoriety by signing future
Hall of Famer Paul Molitor for the
Brewers.
